Roots
The Konzelman Family has been playing music together for seven years and has had the opportunity to learn from and play with some of the best musician in the world! Music started in the home for the Konzelman Family, but not as most would think. “Our parents were never really into music, dad played some Peter Paul and Mary songs on his guitar that he got as a high school graduation present but other than that nothing…”. With roots in classical music, the children were soon to latch on to the acoustic sounds of bluegrass and celtic music. “We learned how to put on shows basically as we traveled between fiddle contests and shows.” Since then the Konzelman Family has competed in and won many contests but their love for stage performance and encouraging others has always kept them performing as a family!
Family
This six children, two parent family has filled stages across the U.S. and Europe to bursting with their explosive energy and life! They sing, they dance, and they play almost every instrument that has strings. During any given show, you’ll see them playing fiddles, guitars, mandolins, pianos, bass, doing comedy… there’s never a dull moment, (you might even see some high energy clogging!). Ask any one of them, and they will tell you that not only do they have an absolute blast, but it has brought them closer as a family. They believe that their music makes a positive impact in people’s lives everywhere they go by showing them how families can work (and play!) together.
Travel
If you were to ask any member of the Konzelman Family if they like to travel the answer would be YES! The Konzelman boys love nothing more than a hotel pool and comfy beds on which to watch cartoons! “Its quite funny really, we don’t have television at home so when we get to anywhere that does, the boys are glued!” The Konzelman Family has traveled near and far to play shows of all kinds. Whether you have a small corporate venue or a huge outdoor music festival, the band can adapt to fill whatever the size.
Hello family, I met four of your lovely sons while they were grabbing lunch at Arby’s in Medford, Oregon on their way to preform in CA. I really enjoyed meeting them and appreciated the eldest sharing your story. We have 5 children and I was there with my youngest daughter.
I do not know if you ever do any fundraising events but was wondering if you lower your fees at all. I also have thought of ways to lower expenses. We have very dear friends of ours that have 3 children. Two of the 3 children have an extremely rare digenerative desease that results in death by ones late teens. They are (along with other families) part of a group of non-profit organizations that are raising funds for research. Please view their site http://www.hadleyhope.com There are only 500 children in the world with this desease so it is nearly impossible to get any government funding. I ask that you pray for this family and pray over whether you might want to discuss a possible future event. (There is the possibility of doing multiple shows throughout the US for this as well.) One of the families also affected by this desease has their only two children (twin daughters) suffering from this. The mother has a PR background in Reno, NV and could be a huge help in organizing a multi-tour event. Their site is http://www.addiandcassi.com Thank you again for your prayers and consideration. Sincerely, Danielle Wheeler
P.S. continued success to all of you.
Great job Derek, and Drew! I want to point out that it’s a little complicated, and sometimes doesn’t work right….And how do you get to every ones biographies.
Wonderful music and video of the GROWING family! Fun to see you all and catch-up on your travels and performances, since “back-in-the-day” at the Puyallup Fair!! People see God’s character lived-out in your lives!
